Pop Art Final

CHOOSE AN ARTIST FROM THE POP ART MOVEMENT (WHO YOU HAVE NOT EXPLORED YET) AND GET IT APPROVED BY MR. P.
WE WILL EXPLORE SEQUENTIAL ART BY CREATING A COMIC BOOK PAGE THAT ACTS AS A BIOGRAPHY, USING THE ARTIST AS THE NARRARATOR. THE PAGE WILL CONSIST OF AT LEAST FIVE PANELS AND EXPLORE THE FOLLOWING: WHERE WAS THE ARTIST BORN? WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DID THEY HAVE? WHAT WERE THEY BEST KNOWN FOR? WAS THERE ANY SPECIFIC EVENT IN THEIR CAREER THAT WAS IMPORTANT OR PIVOTAL? AN EXAMPLE OF THEIR WORK THAT BEST REPRESENTS WHAT THEY ARE KNOWN FOR. THE PAGE SHOULD BE RENDERED IN BLACK AND WHITE ON 11 X 17 BRISTOL BOARD WITH TEXT GENERATED DIGITALLY ON WORD AND PASTED ON TO YOUR ORIGINAL ART. (REMEMBER TO PLAN ON LEAVING SPACE FOR TEXT WHEN DEVELOPING YOUR THUMBNAIL SKETCHES.)
THE FINISHED PAGE WILL BE GRADED ON THE CONTENT’S ACCURACY AND THE CLARITY OF THE NARRATIVE.

Advanced Art final

What is art? An often difficult question to answer, especially in contemporary work. Look at the following three artists and choose two pieces of each of their work. Louise Nevelson, Bridget Riley and Elizabeth Murray. Make a color copy of the pieces (6 total) or find a color copy in a publication and bring them for your presentation.
Choose the element and principle that you feel is best represented by each artist in their work and describe how they have utilized them in their work. (no repeats, asign two to each artist) Do you see meaning or value in these artists' work? What is is it? What do you respond to and why? Base your opinions on facts, not subjective likes and dislikes.
Have fun!

Final will be 20% of your final grade.  Typed papers and images must be printed and ready to hand it at the time of presentation.  No late papers or emailed papers will be accepted.  Do not wait until the last minute to avoid the printer running out of ink or breaking etc...

Foundations Final Project

FINAL PROJECTS WILL BE PRESENTED DURING THE EXAM BLOCK.
WRITE (AND TYPE) A 2 PAGE (OR MORE) DOUBLE SPACED PAPER ON AN ARTIST OF YOUR CHOICE. THE ARTIST MUST BE APPROVED BY MR. P BEFORE YOU BEGIN. THE ARTIST CAN BE FROM ANY ERA AND WORK WITH ANY MEDIUM AS LONG AS THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ART WORLD IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY. (PLEASE AVOID WRITING A PAPER ABOUT AN UNCLE WHO LIKES TO PAINT ETC…) YOUR PAPER SHOULD EXPLAIN THE ART MOVEMENT(S)/PERIOD THE ARTIST WAS INVOLVED IN, THEIR BACKGROUND/HISTORY AND TRAINING, AND WHAT MAKES THEIR WORK SIGNIFICANT IN THE ART WORLD. DISCUSS WHY YOU CHOSE THIS ARTIST AND FIND OUT ABOUT THEIR CREATIVE PROCESS; WHAT SIZE WAS THEIR WORK, HOW DID THEY GO ABOUT CREATING THEIR WORK, WHAT KIND OF SUBJECTS DID HE OR SHE WORK WITH? PLEASE INCLUDE A WORKS CITED PAGE.
PART TWO IS TO ACCOMPANY YOUR PAPER WITH A FULL COLOR WATERCOLOR PORTRAIT OF YOUR ARTIST. UTILIZE THE FOUR TECHNIQUES THAT WE LEARNED IN CLASS. (WET ON WET, WET ON DRY, DRY ON DRY AND DRY ON WET) IF YOUR ARTIST IS FROM A LONG AGO ERA AND BLACK AND WHITE IMAGES ARE ALL YOU CAN FIND, PLEASE USE YOUR CREATIVITY TO BRING FULL COLOR TO THIS INDIVIDUAL.
PRESENTATIONS WILL BE BRIEF BUT SHOULD PRESENT TO THE CLASS AS THOUGH NO ONE HAS ANY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE ARTIST. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ THE PAPER BUT GIVE A WELL THOUGHT THROUGH SYNOPSIS ALONG WITH THE IMAGE. (IT WILL BE HELPFUL TO WRITE AN OUTLINE) YOU WILL LIKELY BE ASKED SOME BASIC QUESTIONS AS WELL SO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR TOPIC.
DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA AND DO NOT PLAGIARISE IN ANY WAY AS IT WILL RESULT IN A ZERO.
Papers need to be ready to hand in at the time of presentation.  Late papers (or emailed papers) will not be accepted.

Ceramics Final Project

CERAMICS FINAL PROJECT
PART 1
2 page paper about an artist of your choice who works in 3D. Paper is double spaced, listing all sources. Research the artist’s background and their body of work. What are they known for, their training, what medium do they work in, what are their influences…? Please bring in at least one full color image of their work to show the class so everyone leaves learning something about each student’s subject. No use of Wikipedia and no plagiarism of any kind.

PART 2 GROUP PROJECT Students will choose a group to work with which could be their entire table or you could switch things up as long as you have a total of 3 people in your group. As a class, we will choose a topic and then each group will create a set of pieces that explores a sub category of that topic. For example, if the class votes on ZOO as the topic, one group could choose arctic animals, another could choose reptiles, another insects etc… Your work should include some kind of environment for your subjects to inhabit.

These two topics are independent of one another and do not need to relate in any way.  Papers need to be typed and ready to be handed in at the time of presentation.  Late papers (or emailed papers) will not be accepted.
