ONCE YOU CHOOSE A DUCK FROM THE LIST, BEGIN FINDING REFERENCES. YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST 3 PHOTO REFERENCES TO BEGIN CREATING YOUR THUMBNAIL SKETCHES. FIND AT LEAST TWO OF THE DUCK YOU CHOOSE SO THAT WE DON'T STRUGGLE WITH ANY PLAGIARISM ISSUES. REFERENCE OF THEIR HABITAT IS ALSO IMPORTANT SO THAT THEY ARE IN A CONVINCING LOCATION THAT THEY WOULD NORMALLY INHABIT.

FOUNDATIONS- TRADING CARDS

CHOOSE AN ARTIST FROM THE LIST BELOW AND CREATE TWO TRADING CARDS ABOUT THEM.
I would recommend getting familiar with a few names and choosing one that you like. You may find that an artist like Jasper Johns may be covered in books about Pop Art and not in a book exclusively about him.
Look in section 700 for books on your artist as well as online for information. NO wikipedia please. PLEASE ask librarians for help if you can not find information that you need.

When you chose your artist comment on this post below with your name and the name of the artist you chose. The comment WILL NOT appear when you send the comment as I have to approve them first.






1) ON THE FRONT, PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST IN WHATEVER STYLE YOU CHOOSE. ON THE BACK INCLUDE BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION. CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

MY FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT EXPECTATION IS THAT YOU DO YOUR PERSONAL BEST. THERE ARE NO “WON’TS” OR “CAN’TS”.
YOU WILL NEED TO GET A SKETCHBOOK THAT IS 9 X 12 OR LARGER. WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE GIVEN ON MONDAYS AND DUE ON FRIDAYS. THESE COUNT FOR 20% OF YOUR GRADE.

RESPECT
For class environment- Students are expected to arrive on time. Please be seated and ready for class to begin once the bell has rung. The three strike policy is in effect. At your third tardiness without a valid pass, detentions begin.
Talking about class-appropriate topics at your own table is fine unless it is disrupting to you, others or Mr. P. Music will be allowed in class when dialogues are not in progress. Feel free to bring in music that is appropriate for school. Headphones are negotiable but they are a privilege, not a right.
The use of cell phones during class time is not allowed even if it your parents calling/texting. Phones should be off and out of sight during class. Texting in class will result in the following: 1st offense is a warning, 2nd offense results in your phone being taken for the class period, 3rd results in your phone being handed over to Mr. Modestow for you to pick up at the end of the day, and 4th offense will require your parents to see Mr. Modestow to get your phone back. If there are occasions that phones can be used for reference or purposes directly related to classroom activity, please ask Mr. P for permission.

For others- You are expected to extend common courtesy to others. Be helpful and pleasant. Never make fun of another student, or his/her artwork. Please make marks on your artwork only. Keep criticism constructive please. Use language responsibly please!

For materials- Use materials only as directed. Do not use materials that you do not have permission from Mr. P for, some can be dangerous. Let’s not waste materials, they are expensive and often not easily replaced.

For Mr. P- Please ask before removing anything from Mr. P’s desk or cabinets etc... Please be attentive when the class is being addressed. One cannot effectively talk and listen simultaneously.
For time- Since we do not have a lot of time and setting up/cleaning up uses up that time, please use class time wisely. A large part of your grades are dependent on how you use your time. Never leave the room without letting Mr. P know your destination. Please remain seated until the bell rings, no lining up at the door.

SAFETY
Do not throw anything
Always act with regard for safety
Be aware of evacuation procedures

CLEAN-UP
If you use it, put it away properly. If you spill it, wipe it up.
Clean at least one quarter of the worktable each day
Do not leave a single thing on the table top (including eraser shreds, which you are expected to brush into the trash, not the floor)
Put your chair up at the end of class
Never leave anything in the sink

HAVE FUN
The goal of all my classes is to learn new skills and grow as an individual and an artist. If the above information is adhered to, we will have fun and learn at the same time. -remember, our focus is process before product.

THE DRAWING AND PAINTING CLASS WILL FOCUS ON VARIOUS DRAWING MEDIA, AS WELL AS ACRYLIC PAINT. STUDENTS WILL DRAW FROM LIFE AS WELL AS REFERENCES AND IMAGINATION.

THERE WILL BE A UNIT ON MURAL PAINTING IN WHICH STUDENTS WILL WORK IN GROUPS ON MURALS THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL.


STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A SKETCHBOOK FOR WEEKLY SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENTS. (9 X 12 OR LARGER)


GRADING WILL BE BASED ON THE CLASS RUBRIC AND FOCUSES ON PROCESS BEFORE PRODUCT.

CERAMICS SYLLABUS

IN THIS CLASS WE WILL EXPLORE THE ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES OF ART AND HOW THEY APPLY TO THREE DIMENSIONAL ART.


STUDENTS WILL LEARN THE THREE MAJOR BUILDING TECHNIQUES: PINCH POTS, SLABS AND COILS AS WELL AS BECOMING FAMILIAR WITH THE TOOLS AND TERMINOLOGY INVOLVED IN THE MEDIUM OF CLAY. STUDENTS WILL BUILD THREE PIECES FOR EACH PROJECT AND CHOOSE THE ONE THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO BE GRADED ON.


VARIOUS PROJECTS WILL ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO EXPLORE THEIR OWN INTERESTS WHILE MEETING THE CRITERIA OF THE GIVEN ASSIGNMENT. WE WILL EXPLORE PORTRAITURE AS WELL AS A GROUP PROJECT.


STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO THROW ON THE WHEEL AND CREATE SIMPLE VESSELS.


THERE WILL BE AT LEAST ONE QUIZ AS WELL AS WRITTEN COMPONENTS TO EACH ASSIGNMENT.


THERE WILL BE AN EMPHASIS ON PROCESS, IN WHICH STUDENTS WILL BEGIN BY SKETCHING AN IDEA AS A FOUNDATION IN WHICH TO BUILD THEIR PIECE. COMPLETED STREUCTURE AND GLAZE USE WILL BE DOCUMENTED AS REFERENCE TOWARDS FUTURE PROJECTS.

FINAL PROJECTS WILL BE PRESENTED DURING THE EXAM BLOCK

WRITE A 2 PAGE DOUBLE SPACED PAPER (plus a works cited page) ON AN ARTIST OF YOUR CHOICE. THE ARTIST YOU CHOOSE MUST BE OF A DIFFERENT RACE AND/OR GENDER THAN YOURSELF. THE ARTIST MUST BE APPROVED BY MR. P BEFORE YOU BEGIN. THE ARTIST CAN BE FROM ANY ERA AND WORK WITH ANY MEDIUM OF DRAWING OR PAINTING (PASTELS, OILS, ACRYLICS…) AS LONG AS THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ART WORLD IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY. (BEST TO AVOID WRITING A PAPER ABOUT AN UNCLE WHO LIKES TO PAINT ETC…)
THERE ARE MANY QUALITIES YOU COULD CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON SUCH AS SUBJECT MATTER, SCALE, MEDIUM, COLOR CHOICES/USE OF COLOR, STYLISTIC CHOICES, MEANING/INTENT… ANALIZE WHAT THE ARTIST IS TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH AND HOW THEY DO SO. FOR INSTANCE, WHY DID MONET USE THE COLORS HE DID? THERE ARE VERY SPECIFIC REASONS FOR THIS WHICH WOULD REQUIRE RESEARCH AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE ARTISTS’ WORK.

PART TWO OF THIS PROJECT IS TO ALSO CREATE A COLOR IMAGE REPRESENTING THE ARTIST’S WORK. MINIMUM SIZE IS 9X12. DO NOT REPLICATE AN EXISTING PIECE BUT USE QUALITIES THAT ARTISTS ARE KNOWN FOR TO CREATE A NEW WORK. THINK ABOUT WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE IF THAT ARTIST CREATED DURING A DIFFERENT TIME PERIOD. WHAT IF DEGAS WAS ALIVE TODAY. ALSO HAVE AT LEAST TWO FULL COLOR EXAMPLES OF THE ARTIST’S WORK TO SHOW THE CLASS.

PRESENTATIONS DURING THE EXAM BLOCK WILL BE BRIEF BUT SHOULD PRESENT TO THE CLASS AS THOUGH NO ONE HAS ANY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE ARTISTS. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ THE PAPER BUT GIVE A WELL THOUGHT THROUGH SYNOPSIS ALONG WITH THE IMAGE. YOU WILL LIKELY BE ASKED SOME BASIC QUESTIONS AS WELL SO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR TOPIC. THIS PROJECT COUNTS FOR 20% OF YOUR GRADE!

PART TWO IS TO PAINT A 9 X 12 IMAGE THAT DEMONSTRATES THE QUALITIES OF THAT ARTIST’S WORK. THINK ABOUT THEIR COLOR CHOICES, TECHNIQUES THAT THEY EMPLOYED TO CREATE THE WORK, COMPOSITION, SUBJECT MATTER AND PHILOSOPHY. WE ARE NOT DUPLICATING AN EXISTING WORK, BUT CREATING AN ORIGINAL PIECE.

PRESENTATIONS WILL BE BRIEF BUT SHOULD PRESENT TO THE CLASS AS THOUGH NO ONE HAS ANY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE ARTIST. WHAT ARE HIS PHILOSOPHIES ABOUT ARCHITECTURE? WHAT MAKES FLW STAND OUT FROM OTHER ARCHITECTS? WHAT DID HE DO DIFFERENTLY? WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY WAS HE? WERE THERE SIGNIFICANT EVENTS IN HIS LIFE?
APPROACH THE PAPER WITH THESE QUESTIONS IN MIND. BE SURE TO SITE YOUR SOURCES, ONLINE OR BOOKS. ANY FORM OF PLAIGIRISM WILL RESULT IN A ZERO!

USING WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED ABOUT FLW’S WORK, SKETCH AN INTERIOR OF HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO REDESIGN OUR ART SPACE AT FRONTIER IF YOU HAD AN UNLIMITED BUDGET. THE DESIGN MUST CLEARLY INCORPORATE FLW’S ARCHITECTURE PHILOSOPHY IN AS MANY WAYS AS YOU CAN. THINK ABOUT THINGS YOU LIKE ABOUT THE SPACE AND HOW TO ENHANCE IT AS WELL AS THINGS YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE ENTIRELY. THIS FULL COLOR IMAGE WILL BE 12 X 18 PAPER.

CERAMICS WHEEL THROWING AND FINAL PROJECT



FOR YOUR WHEEL THROWING PROJECT YOU WILL NOT NEED TO TURN IN ANY PAPERWORK EXCEPT FOR A RUBRIC. (JUST LIKE THE PINCH POT PROJECT) YOU WILL PRODUCE A MINIMUM OF THREE PIECES FOLLOWING THE PROCESS THAT WAS PRESENTED IN THE DEMOS AND HANDOUT. PIECES THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE PROCESS DISCUSSED IN THE HANDOUT DO NOT COUNT.

YOUR FINISHED WORK WILL BE ILLUSTRATING A FULL COLOR FIGURE ON 12 X 18 WATERCOLOR PAPER. YOU MAY USE MIXED MEDIA BUT WATERCOLOR WILL BE THE PRIMARY MEDIUM.

VOCABULARY

Dart- triangular folds of fabric stitched to a point. They control fullness and give shape to fitted clothing.

Tuck- narow folds of fabric that may be stitched part way or the entire length.

Seam- can create special effects, or a sporty, tailored, or contrasting finish to a garment.

Gather- soft folds of fabric fomred by pulling up basting stitches to make the fabric fit into a smaller space.

Pleat- folds of fabric, wider than tucks and stitched or pressed in place.

IN ADDITION TO THE DOUBLE SIDED HANDOUT, PLEASE THINK ABOUT THE FOLLOWING:

USE A BORDER WHICH DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ON ALL FOUR SIDES OF THE IMAGE. THIS CAN OFTEN HELP BALANCE THE VALUES IN A COMPOSITION. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU ONLY HAVE A FEW AREAS OF BLACK IN YOUR IMAGE, A BLACK BORDER MIGHT MAKE SENSE.

USE HUMOR. EVEN THE MOST ORDINARY OF BUSINESS CAN BE MADE INTERESTING WITH HUMOR WHICH CAN ALSO OPEN UP MANY OPTIONS FOR THE SUBJECTS YOU CHOOSE IN THE IMAGE.

BRING YOUR OWN INTERESTS TO THE PIECE. IF YOU LIKE DRAWING DINOSAURS AND VOLCANOS, FIND A HEADLINE YOU CAN USE THAT CAN INCORPORATE THESE SUBJECTS. THERE IS NO RULE SAYING THAT YOU HAVE TO DRAW A BANK IN AN AD FOR A BANK.

DESIGN- TATTOO DESIGN


Early Jesuit settlers document widespread tattooing among the Native American Indian. Among many of the tribes unique tattoo designs were used to mark outstanding warriors and a sign of arrival to manhood.

The Ontario Iroquoians used elaborate designs to identify those very high in social status and in many North-West American Tribes the women were tattooed on their chins as a sign of marriage or commitment.

The first permanent tattoo shop was established in New York City in 1846 by Martin Hildebrandt who began his craft by traveling to both side of the civil war tattooing the names of soldiers and sailors sweethearts as it was seen as a sign of good luck. Hildebrandt spent the next 20 years training artist in his craft. The 2nd shop opened in the United States also provided probably the most significant invention on the tattoo industry.

Samuel O'Reilly was the founder of this shop and in 1891 invented the first electric tattooing machine. Prior to his invention the needles were dipped in ink and the artist would manually puncture the skin only two or three times a second. The electric machine allowed an artist to draw directly on the customer skin.

The 1900's were an emerging time for tattoos in the United States. Prior to this period it was mostly an unknown art and moved into an age where advertising became more prominent.

Today the Tattoo art form continues stronger than ever gaining more social acceptance on a broader scale. Once looked at as something reserved from criminals, low life's and biker gangs. Tattoos can been found in every economic and social scale in the United States. Prominent celebrities proudly display their artwork on network television broadcasts. Musicians from every genre can be seen blazing tattoo designs from a single small tattoo to more elaborate and extensive full body art.

ADVANCED ART SYLLABUS

ADVANCED ART SYLLABUS PURCELL

IN ADVANCED ART WE WILL BE WORKING WITH A VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES AND MEDIA. WE WILL BE ENTERING TWO CONTESTS.

EXPLORATION WILL INCLUDE:PEN AND INK TECHNIQUES SUCH AS STIPPLING AND CROSSHATCHING. WE WILL EXPLORE USING PENS AS WELL AS CROW QUILLS AND BRUSH.

PERSPECTIVE WILL BE USED IN ONE PROJECT THAT WILL REQUIRE THE USE OF STRONG AND SPECIFIC CRAFTSMANSHIP.

CONCEPTUAL WORK WILL BE A FOCUS AS STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN A CONCEPT AND EXPECTED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM THROUGH THE USE OF CREATIVITY AND ACCURATE RESEARCH.

STUDENTS WILL WORK WITH CHOOSING MASTER PAINTINGS TO BASE THEIR WORK ON FOR AT LEAST ONE ASSIGNMENT. THERE WILL BE A FOCUS ON MIXING AND APPLYING COLORS ACCURATELY.

WEEKLY SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENTS WILL COUNT AS 20% OF THE FINAL GRADE. ONE HOUR OF WORK IS THE MINIMUM THAT WILL BE EXPECTED FOR EACH ASSIGNMENT. STUDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO HAVE A 9X12 OR LARGER SKETCHBOOK. LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED, BUT WILL DROP A LETTER GRADE EACH DAY THEY ARE LATE.

THERE WILL BE A FINAL PROJECT THAT WILL INVOLVE WRITING AS WELL AS CREATING A PIECE OF ARTWORK. THIS WILL COUNT FOR 20% OF STUDENTS’ FINAL GRADE AS WELL.

DESIGN CLASS WILL EXPLORE A VARIETY OF FIELDS INCLUDING FASHION, ARCHICTECTURE, INDUSTRIAL, AND TATTOO DESIGN.
STUDENTS WILL CREATE A VISUAL IDENTITY BY DESIGNING THEIR OWN LETTERHEAD AND BUSINESS CARDS.
WE WILL BE ENTERING BOTH THE 2011 JUNIOR DUCK STAMP CONTEST AS WELL AS THE DAILY HAMPSHIRE GAZETTE CREATE AN AD CONTEST.

PART OF THE FINAL PROJECT FOR THIS CLASS WILL BE A FINAL CRITIQUE OF THE WORK YOU HAVE DONE FROM THE FIRST PROJECT TO THE LAST. PLEASE SAVE ALL ARTWORK FOR THIS FINAL CRITIQUE.

THERE WILL BE CRITIQUES THROUGHOUT THE CLASS AS WELL AS THE FINAL EVALUATION.

THE CLASS WILL BE FUN AND CHALLENGING. I PLAN ON A FIELD TRIP TO A TATTOO PARLOR AS WELL AS THE NYC FIELD TRIP IN MAY.

FOUNDATIONS SYLLABUS

THE FOUNDATIONS CLASS WILL FOCUS ON VARIOUS DRAWING AND PAINTING MEDIA, AS WELL AS SOME THREE DIMENSIONAL WORK. STUDENTS WILL DRAW FROM LIFE AS WELL AS REFERENCES AND IMAGINATION.

STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A SKETCHBOOK FOR WEEKLY SKETCHBOOK ASSIGNMENTS. (9 X 12 OR LARGER)

FOUNDATIONS CLASS WILL INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO BASIC VOCABULARY AND VARIOUS MEDIA. STUDENTS WILL BEGIN BY WORKING FROM LIFE DRAWING STILL LIFE AND MOVING ON TO WORK ON A SELF PORTRAIT AS WELL AS CREATING TRADING CARDS BASED ON AN ARTIST OF THEIR CHOOSING.

GRADING WILL BE BASED ON THE CLASS RUBRIC AND FOCUSES ON PROCESS BEFORE PRODUCT.
CLASSWORK WILL COUNT FOR 60% OF YOUR GRADE
SKETCHBOOK WILL COUNT FOR 20% OF YOUR GRADE

CERAMICS SYLLABUS

IN THIS CLASS WE WILL EXPLORE THE ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES OF ART AND HOW THEY APPLY TO THREE DIMENSIONAL ART.


STUDENTS WILL LEARN THE THREE MAJOR BUILDING TECHNIQUES: PINCH POTS, SLABS AND COILS AS WELL AS BECOMING FAMILIAR WITH THE TOOLS AND TERMINOLOGY INVOLVED IN THE MEDIUM OF CLAY. STUDENTS WILL BUILD THREE PIECES FOR EACH PROJECT AND CHOOSE THE ONE THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO BE GRADED ON.


VARIOUS PROJECTS WILL ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO EXPLORE THEIR OWN INTERESTS WHILE MEETING THE CRITERIA OF THE GIVEN ASSIGNMENT.


STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO THROW ON THE WHEEL AND CREATE SIMPLE VESSELS.


THERE WILL BE AT LEAST ONE QUIZ AS WELL AS WRITTEN COMPONENTS TO EACH ASSIGNMENT.


THERE WILL BE AN EMPHASIS ON PROCESS, IN WHICH STUDENTS WILL BEGIN BY SKETCHING AN IDEA AS A FOUNDATION IN WHICH TO BUILD THEIR PIECE. GLAZE USE WILL BE DOCUMENTED TO REFER TO COMBINATIONS THAT WORKED AS WELL AS THOSE THAT DID NOT.

MY FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT EXPECTATION IS THAT YOU DO YOUR PERSONAL BEST. THERE ARE NO “WON’TS” OR “CAN’TS”.
YOU WILL NEED TO GET A SKETCHBOOK THAT IS 81/2 X 11 OR LARGER. WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE GIVEN ON MONDAYS AND DUE ON FRIDAYS. THESE COUNT FOR 20% OF YOUR GRADE.

RESPECT
For class environment- Students are expected to arrive on time. Please be seated and ready for class to begin once the bell has rung. The three strike policy is in effect. At your third tardiness without a valid pass, detentions begin.
Talking about class-appropriate topics at your own table is fine unless it is disrupting to you, others or Mr. P. Music will be allowed in class when dialogues are not in progress. Feel free to bring in music that is appropriate for school. Headphones are negotiable but they are a privilege, not a right.
The use of cell phones during class time is not allowed even if it your parents calling/texting. Phones should be off and out of site during class. If there are occasions that phones can be used for reference or purposes directly related to classroom activity, please ask Mr. P for permission.

For others- You are expected to extend common courtesy to others. Be helpful and pleasant. Never make fun of another student, or his/her artwork. Please make marks on your artwork only. Keep criticism constructive please.

For materials- Use materials only as directed. Do not use materials that you do not have permission from Mr. P for, some can be dangerous. Let’s not waste materials, they are expensive and often not easily replaced.

For Mr. P- Please ask before removing anything from Mr. P’s desk or cabinets etc... Please be attentive when the class is being addressed. One cannot effectively talk and listen simultaneously.
For time- Since we do not have a lot of time and setting up/cleaning up uses up that time, please use class time wisely. A large part of your grades are dependent on how you use your time. Never leave the room without letting Mr. P know your destination. Please remain seated until the bell rings, no lining up at the door.

SAFETY
Do not throw anything
Always act with regard for safety
Be aware of evacuation procedures

CLEAN-UP
If you use it, put it away properly. If you spill it, wipe it up.
Clean at least one quarter of the worktable each day
Do not leave a single thing on the table top (including eraser shreds, which you are expected to brush into the trash, not the floor)
Put your chair up at the end of class
Never leave anything in the sink

WRITE A 2 PAGE DOUBLE SPACED PAPER (plus a reference page) ON AN ARTIST OF YOUR CHOICE. PLEASE INCLUDE A WORKS CITED PAGE AS WELL. THE ARTIST MUST BE APPROVED BY MR. P BEFORE YOU BEGIN. THE ARTIST CAN BE FROM ANY ERA AND WORK WITH ANY PAINTING MEDIUM (PASTELS, OILS, ACRYLICS…) AS LONG AS THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ART WORLD IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY. (PLEASE AVOID WRITING A PAPER ABOUT AN UNCLE WHO LIKES TO PAINT ETC…)
THERE ARE MANY QUALITIES YOU COULD CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON SUCH AS SUBJECT MATTER, SCALE, MEDIUM, COLOR CHOICES/USE OF COLOR, TIME ERAS, STYLISTIC CHOICES, MEANING/INTENT… TRY TO ANALIZE WHAT THE ARTIST IS TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH AND HOW THEY DO SO. FOR INSTANCE, WHY DID MONET USE THE COLORS HE DID? THERE ARE VERY SPECIFIC REASONS FOR THIS WHICH WOULD REQUIRE RESEARCH AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE ARTISTS’ WORK.

PART TWO OF THIS PROJECT IS TO HAVE AT LEAST TWO FULL COLOR EXAMPLES OF THE ARTIST’S WORK. (THESE COULD BE PRINTED FROM THE INTERNET OR FROM BOOKS.)

THE FINAL PROJECT FOR PORTFOLIO WILL BE TO WRITE A TWO-THREE PAGE PAPER ON THE FOLOWING:

A. YOUR EXPERIENCE IN PREPARING AND PRESENTING YOUR PORTFOLIO. WHAT WERE THE MOST CHALLENGING AND DIFFICULT PARTS OF THE PROCESS? THE MOST FUN? REWARDING?

B. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST AND DID THEY HAVE ANY IMPACT ON YOUR PRODUCTION OF THE PORTFOLIO? IF SO, HOW?

C. WHAT WAS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CHANGE OR DEVELOPMENT IN YOUR WORK DURING THIS CLASS? DID YOU FIND A NEW MEDIUM THAT YOU HAVE EMBRACED, OR SUBJECTS THAT YOU ENJOY WORKING WITH?

D. DISCUSS AN EXAMPLE OF YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE PIECE.

E. WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP? HAVE YOU HEARD BACK FROM COLLEGES YET? HAVE YOU DECIDED ON A SPECIFIC SCHOOL? WHAT DO YOU PLAN ON MAJORING IN?

FINAL PROJECTS WILL BE PRESENTED DURING THE EXAM BLOCK.

WRITE A 2 PAGE DOUBLE SPACED PAPER ON AN ARTIST OF YOUR CHOICE. THE ARTIST MUST BE APPROVED BY MR. P BEFORE YOU BEGIN. THE ARTIST CAN BE FROM ANY ERA AND WORK WITH ANY MEDIUM AS LONG AS THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ART WORLD IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY. (PLEASE AVOID WRITING A PAPER ABOUT AN UNCLE WHO LIKES TO PAINT ETC…)
YOUR PAPER SHOULD EXPLAIN THE ART MOVEMENTS/PERIOD THE ARTIST WAS INVOLVED IN, THEIR BACKGROUND/HISTORY AND TRAINING, AND WHAT MAKES THEIR WORK SIGNIFICANT IN THE ART WORLD. DISCUSS WHY YOU CHOSE THIS ARTIST AND FIND OUT ABOUT THEIR CREATIVE PROCESS; WHAT SIZE WAS THEIR WORK, HOW DID THEY GO ABOUT CREATING THEIR WORK, WHAT KIND OF SUBJECTS DID THEY WORK WITH?

PART TWO OF THIS CHOICE IS TO HAVE AT LEAST TWO FULL COLOR IMAGES TO SHOW THE CLASS AS EXAMPLES. THESE EXAMPLES COULD BE FROM A BOOK OR IMAGES TAKEN FROM THE INTERNET.
